Three steps to a perfect result.

Before we start, we align needs and requirements properly: design concept and sampling on site, usually offset against the project. Execution then follows in three steps.

  1. 01

    Cleaning.

Cement laitance runs, rust veils, formwork oil or pencil markings: The original concrete tone is exposed without harming the surface. This alone usually brings a marked improvement in the overall appearance.

    After
  2. 02

    Repair.

Anchor holes, gravel pockets, formwork imprints, wood grain, edges, joints, spalls, clouding, discolouration: everything the pour lost is remodelled until it is indistinguishable from the existing surface. And where the tone is off, we retouch with mineral systems that bond with the substrate instead of coating it.

    Reprofiling formwork seam — before

  3. 03

    Protection.

A finely pigmented glaze protects and fine-tunes the overall appearance at once. Hydrophobic sealing and anti-graffiti protection guard against weathering and vandalism, as a sacrificial layer or as a long-life system. We advise you on the options.

Concrete protection: treated surface stays clean while the unprotected top shows water run-off marks

The specified class only emerges through our finishing.

The German Concrete and Construction Technology Association (DBV) defines four exposed-concrete classes, SB1 to SB4. This definition underlies most tenders. What the result will look like, however, the code does not say: that is decided by the overall impression. And precisely this is what we align in close communication with the structural contractor and the architect. We bring your exposed concrete to the specified class. No more and no less. On request we also issue specialist statements.

Unique projects demand unique teams.

Most of those working with Orbit Werk are trained artists: painters, sculptors, restorers, set designers, translating the language of aesthetics into concrete. Depending on the task, they work in teams of 2–7 specialists.

Founded by Lorenz Pasch: a diploma in painting, a master's in sculpture, years of specialisation in exposed-concrete cosmetics. Today Orbit Werk GmbH unites concept, coordination and execution under one roof.

Orbit Werk emerged from seven years of joint exposed-concrete work with SB5ÜNF GmbH under managing director Felix Sommer, whose book Beton und Nicht-Beton (Jovis) documents the state of the craft. On complex tasks we continue to work in partnership to this day.

The Orbit Lab.

The Orbit Lab is our laboratory for special surfaces — material research, tool-making and design invention in one space. Here we develop bespoke wall designs in form, colour and materiality at the highest level — in close coordination with architectural studios and agencies. What we particularly love about the Lab: things sometimes emerge here that nobody saw coming.

On site, the Lab becomes mobile. For every task we develop the right process — including bespoke tools when the market offers none. The University of Konstanz is the most recent example: the challenge was to render fine wood textures with an OS-4-certified material across more than 1,000 m².
